New California Laws that will go into effect starting July 1, 2022

Here's a couple of new California Employment Laws that will go into effect starting on July 1, 2022:
Minimum Wage Increase
Effective January 1, 2022, the California minimum wage increased to $15.00 per hour for employers with 26 or more employees and $14.00 per hour for employers with 25 or less employees. Starting on July 1, 2022, minimum wage increases will apply to local jurisdictions as follows:
Los Angeles City - Effective July 1, 2022, the effective minimum wage for businesses operating in the city of Los Angeles will increase from $15.00 to $16.04 per hour. Hotel employers in the city of Los Angeles with 150 or more guest rooms will be required to pay an even higher minimum wage of $18.17 per hour.
Los Angeles County - Effective July 1, 2022, the effective minimum wage for businesses operating in the county of Los Angeles will be $15.96 per hour.
Santa Monica - Effective July 1, 2022, the effective minimum wage for businesses operating in the city of Santa Monica will be $15.96 per hour.
Malibu - Effective July 1, 2022, the effective minimum wage for businesses operating in the city of Malibu will be $15.96 per hour.
Pasadena - Effective July 1, 2022, the effective minimum wage for businesses operating in the city of Pasadena will be $16.11 per hour.
West Hollywood - Effective July 1, 2022, the effective minimum wage for businesses operating in the city of West Hollywood will be $16.50 per hour for employers with 50 or more employees; $16.00 per hour for employers with less than 50 employees; and $18.35 per hour for hotel employees.
Mileage Reimbursement Rate Increase
The IRS mileage rate will increase from 58.5 cents per mile to 62.5 cents per mile on July 1, 2022. This is the rate employers must use to reimburse employees who use their personal vehicles for business purposes.
New Gun-Control Laws
Effective July 1, 2022, microstamping is going to be required for all handguns. Microstamping is the process of imprinting tiny markings on cartridges that have been fired from a weapon for quicker police identification,
California is also expanding what weapons can be legally seized under gun violence restraining orders.
Public School Start Times
Effective July 1, 2022, public middle schools will be prohibited from starting the day before 8:00 a.m. Public high school campuses will not be allowed to begin their schedules before 8:30 a.m. The purpose of the law is to allow preteens and teenagers to rest in order to promote their overall health and development.
